Italy and Verona

This is our flag. The colours are : red like heart, white like clouds and green like hope !

Where we live..

We live in Monopoli,a little town in the south east of Italy. It’s right next to Bari,a big city in Apulia. Monopoli is a beautiful town with many beaches and discos for fun! In fact ,during the summer life in Monopoli can be very exciting, if you like sun, sand and sea.

An important town in Italy.......VERONA

Verona is a city in Northern Italy. The ancient town and the center of the modern city are in a loop of the Adige River. The population of Verona is about 260 000. Very famous squares are “Piazza dei Signori” and “Piazza delle Erbe”.

The most important monument of Romanesque architecture is The Basilica of San Zeno Maggiore.

Verona is famous for its Roman amphitheatre, the Arena ,which is the third largest in Italy. The interior is very impressive and is virtually intact and in use even today for public events, fairs, theatre and open-air opera during warm summer nights. It could seat some 25,000 spectators !!

Verona is the setting of the story of “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare. This is the famous balcony of Juliet at Villa Capuleti in Verona.

Pandoro is a traditional Italian sweet bread, veryt popular in Italy at Christmas and New Year’s holidays. It’s a bread made of eggs, butter and sugar or honey too.
